Lily-Rose Depp, the daughter of Hollywood actor Johnny Depp and French singer Vanessa Paradis, has been making headlines recently for her revealing photoshoot with Vanity Fair. The 23-year-old actress posed topless for the magazine’s April 2023 issue and opened up about her upbringing in the spotlight.

Despite growing up with famous parents, Lily-Rose described her childhood as “almost normal.” She explained that her parents worked hard to shield her and her younger brother, Jack, from the media and paparazzi.
“We definitely had a different kind of childhood, but it was almost normal in a way,” Lily-Rose told Vanity Fair. “My parents really tried to keep us grounded and make sure we had a normal childhood. They shielded us from a lot of the craziness.”
Johnny Depp has been a household name in Hollywood for decades, but Lily-Rose said she didn’t fully grasp his fame until she was a teenager. She remembered attending one of his movie premieres and seeing the throngs of fans and paparazzi waiting outside.
“It was kind of overwhelming at first,” she said. “But I learned to deal with it and not let it affect me too much. My parents always told me to focus on the things that mattered, like my family and my passions.”
Lily-Rose has followed in her parents’ footsteps and pursued a career in acting. She made her film debut in 2014’s “Tusk” and has since appeared in several other movies, including “Yoga Hosers” and “The King.” She also starred in the TV miniseries “The Third Day” and the biopic “Dreamland,” which premiered at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival.
Despite her rising profile in Hollywood, Lily-Rose said she still finds time to be a typical 20-something. She enjoys spending time with her friends, going to concerts, and exploring new cities.
“I don’t take myself too seriously,” she said. “I try to have fun and enjoy life, just like any other person my age.”
The Vanity Fair photoshoot marks a departure from Lily-Rose’s usual wholesome image. In the accompanying interview, she discussed her decision to pose topless and why she wanted to break away from her “good girl” persona.
“I wanted to do something different and show a different side of myself,” she said. “I’ve always been very comfortable in my own skin, and I wanted to embrace that and show that side of me.”
Despite some backlash from critics who accused her of “selling out” or “objectifying herself,” Lily-Rose said she’s proud of the photoshoot and hopes it will inspire other young women to be confident in their own bodies.
“I think it’s important to celebrate our bodies and embrace our femininity,” she said. “We should never be ashamed of who we are or what we look like.”
Lily-Rose’s interview with Vanity Fair offers a rare glimpse into the private life of one of Hollywood’s most famous families. Despite her parents’ fame and fortune, Lily-Rose seems determined to forge her own path and stay grounded in the face of the media’s scrutiny.
