Matt Schlapp, a renowned conservative political consultant and lobbyist, has enlisted the legal services of Adam Waldman, Johnny Depp’s lawyer, to reveal the identity of a woman who has accused him of sexual assault. In February, the woman accused Schlapp of assaulting her sexually in 2016 when she worked as a congressional staffer. Schlapp has refuted the accusations and plans to file a defamation suit against the woman.

Waldman, famous for representing high-profile clients like Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska and Johnny Depp, has joined Schlapp’s legal team to help identify the woman and collect evidence that will bolster his defense.
Waldman stated that he is delighted to represent Schlapp and is committed to revealing the truth. “Matt Schlapp is a man of integrity who has been falsely accused of a heinous crime,” Waldman said. “We intend to do everything in our power to identify the person responsible for making these false accusations and to bring them to justice.”
Schlapp’s decision to hire Waldman has sparked criticism from some, who accuse him of trying to intimidate his accuser. Tara Raghuveer, the National Domestic Workers Alliance founder, remarked, “This is a classic case of victim-blaming and trying to silence a survivor. By hiring a high-powered lawyer like Adam Waldman, Schlapp is sending a message that he will do whatever it takes to avoid accountability.”
Schlapp defended his choice, claiming that he has the right to defend himself against false accusations. “I have done nothing wrong, and I will not allow myself to be falsely accused without a fight,” Schlapp said. “I have every confidence that Adam Waldman will help me to clear my name and expose the truth.”
The case is ongoing, and it remains unclear what evidence, if any, Waldman and his team will uncover. However, the uproar surrounding Schlapp’s selection of a prominent lawyer like Waldman is unlikely to subside anytime soon
