Johnny Depp Has Revealed That The Main Motive For The Trial Was For The Sake Of His Own Two Precious Kids

Johnny Depp has revealed the driving force behind his high-profile trial against UK newspaper The Sun in 2020 – to protect his children. Depp sued the tabloid for calling him a “wife-beater” in an article referencing his tumultuous marriage to actress Amber Heard. The trial lasted several weeks, gaining widespread public attention, with both Depp and Heard giving testimony about their relationship.

In a recent interview, Depp stated that his main motivation for the case was his children. He said, “I went to court to protect my children. That’s my main concern, my kids.” Depp and Heard share two children, a son named Jack and a daughter named Lily-Rose. Depp wanted to set the record straight and defend himself against the allegations of domestic abuse made against him.

“I had to fight for my reputation because everything being said about me was untrue. I couldn’t stand by and let those lies affect my children’s perception of their father,” Depp explained. Despite losing the trial, with the judge ruling that The Sun’s article was “substantially true,” Depp has no regrets about taking legal action. “I had to stand up for myself and my family. I wouldn’t have been able to look my kids in the eyes if I didn’t,” he said.

The actor expressed his gratitude for the support he received from fans and colleagues during the trial. “It was a difficult time, but the love and support I received from so many people was overwhelming,” he said. Depp is currently filming for the upcoming movie “Pig,” which is set to be released later this year
