Togbe Afede rejects over GH¢360k ex-gratia saying he didn’t deserve it.

Togbe Afede XIV served on the Council in his capacity as the President of the National House of Chiefs, the reward for hard work done by the chief is a cash of GH¢365,392.67 but this iconic chief has rejected this money saying it was just a part time job and never warrants such a price.

After he made a refund to the Controller and Accountant General, he clarified any rumor deeming whether the cash was just a trap for him to fall into in a press release on Monday, June 6.

He believes it was a payment directed to everyone who contributed a quota to the Council of States.

A modest king indeed who has the interest of his people at heart as he gives deeper meanings to why he rejected the cash saying, “However, I thought that extra payment was inappropriate for a short, effectively part-time work, for which I received a monthly salary and was entitled to other privileges. So, I was very uncomfortable with it.”

He further reiterated that he wrote to inform the Council of State to outline his reasons for rejecting the ex-gratia.

Ghanaians will proud of a king who weighs very much on his own life, separating truth from lies and helping to reform work and payment is a great trait a king like Togbe Afede has set and wants his people to follow.

The Volta region will be proud of their King and will also attract respect from other tribes who very much appreciate integrity over the cancer money which numbs the mind of people nowadays to deviate from the truth.
